Job summary

Westfield Specialty in New York, NY is seeking an experienced production Underwriter for the Financial Institutions Retail team. The role focuses on pursuing new business, servicing renewals, and delivering underwriting solutions to broker partners across the United States.

You will work with retail brokers on risks including Private Equity Funds, Hedge Funds, Venture Capital Funds, Banks, Insurance Companies, REITs, and other Financial Institution exposures, building a profitable portfolio

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Financial Lines and/or D&O underwriting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Risk Management, Insurance, or related field.
• Solid writing and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel.
• Onsite in office 4 days per week, where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Support the growth and profitability of the Financial Institutions portfolio in alignment with the team's underwriting strategy.
• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of underwriting objectives, appetite, and strategy within the assigned territory.
• Underwrite new and renewal business in accordance with company guidelines, authority levels, and underwriting standards.
• Analyze risk exposures, pricing adequacy, and coverage structures to drive profitable underwriting decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to support retention and new business development.
• Participate in underwriting peer review discussions and underwriting committee meetings, as required.
• Collaborate with internal business partners across underwriting, claims, actuarial, and product management functions.
• Gather competitive intelligence and market insights to support product development and strategic initiatives.
• Represent the company at industry events, broker meetings, and client engagements.
• Travel as required to support business development and relationship management activities.
