Everest Insurance Company in Chicago is seeking a Senior Underwriter II in Wholesale Casualty to develop and manage a profitable E&S casualty portfolio with a focus on General Liability. The role is hybrid, with regular in-office collaboration and broker engagement in the Chicago market.

You will work with wholesale brokers to drive profitable growth while maintaining underwriting discipline, and collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Product, Finance and Operations teams to support regional

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience.
• Strong expertise underwriting General Liability risks.
• Experience in the E&S, surplus lines, specialty, or wholesale market.
• Demonstrated success managing broker relationships and growing a profitable book of business.
• Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.
• Experience negotiating pricing, terms, and coverage structures.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal E&S General Liability business within established authority levels.
• Build and manage a profitable portfolio of middle-market casualty accounts.
• Develop strong relationships with wholesale broker partners across the Midwest.
• Evaluate risk exposures, pricing adequacy, coverage structures, and account profitability.
• Drive new business production while achieving underwriting and portfolio objectives.
• Maintain adherence to underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and referral processes.
• Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Product, Finance, and Operations teams.
• Support regional growth initiatives and expand Everest’s presence within the wholesale marketplace.
• Monitor competitive market trends and broker opportunities within the Chicago territory.
