Ledgebrook Insurance, LLC. is seeking a Casualty Underwriter with a strong E&S background to join our fast-growing team in Chicago.

You will work with wholesale trading partners to drive appetite submission flow, quote opportunities, and secure profitable placements in general liability. The role emphasizes underwriting new business and renewals, leveraging deep broker relationships and data-driven risk selection to achieve favorable loss ratios.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as a Casualty underwriter.
• Experience with admitted and non-admitted paper.
• Able to work in fast-paced environments either independently or as a team member.
• Underwrite new business and renewal policies for Casualty.
• Strong wholesale broker trading relationships.
• Understand pricing and risk selection criteria for profitability.
• Advanced data analysis to support portfolio management objectives.
• Innovative problem solving and solutioning.
• Responsive, customer service oriented mindset.
• Intellectual curiosity and comfort with a blank sheet.
• Able to make timely decisions with necessary information.
• Strong entrepreneurial drive to build and win with the team.
• Willingness to travel independently for broker or event meetings.

Responsibilities

• Interact with wholesale trading partners to drive appetite submission and conversion.
• Underwrite new business and renewals for Casualty lines.
• Leverage broker relationships to source opportunities and quotes.
