Job summary

National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. seeks an experienced underwriting professional to manage a complex Excess Casualty portfolio. The role emphasizes strategic underwriting, broker collaboration, and growth of a designated book of business.

The successful candidate will bring 5+ years in commercial insurance, strong NA Casualty knowledge, and proven sales/relationship-building capabilities, with a preference for an in-office presence in Minnesota.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Commercial Insurance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Strong knowledge of NA Casualty lines (Environmental, Excess/Primary, NA Auto, WC, GL, DBA, Foreign Casualty).
• Proven sales, marketing, and relationship-building experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Expertise with underwriting analytics tools and technology.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex accounts with greater authority.
• Develop and implement underwriting strategies for renewals and prospects.
• Identify target markets and build prospect lists.
• Collaborate with brokers, distribution teams, and other underwriters.
• Review submissions and determine pricing, terms, and structure.
• Provide guidance to less senior staff and ensure quality decisions.
• Maintain strong broker and client relationships to grow the book.
