Job Description
Senior Underwriter‑Analyst – responsible for driving improvements to book, channel, and team results through data‑driven decision‑making, book and individual risk underwriting.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Evaluate processes, tasks, and workloads for opportunities to create efficiencies, automation, and optimization at an enterprise level; recommend improvements for agents/customers and lead implementation.
- Improve book quality by understanding agent/channel/book performance, designing and implementing re‑underwriting, automation or other solutions, and monitoring results to adjust as needed.
- Partner with principal analyst, UW management, and Product to research and develop new tools or processes to improve rating accuracy and reduce gaps.
- Maintain an underwriting territory, review individual risks and aggregate trends, provide relationship‑oriented service to customers, colleagues, and stakeholders, including direct contact with customers.
- Onboard agents and agencies in collaboration with sales management, analyzing profitability, growth potential, risk selection, and alignment with company philosophy; recommend quality improvements on new agents.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical growth to team members through quality audits and knowledge sharing; act as team lead in the absence of Principal UW Analyst.
- Represent the department as an underwriting subject‑matter expert in complex company projects.
- Utilize analytics, quality reviews, and stakeholder input to identify, address, and monitor adverse selection, premium leakage gaps, and program changes.
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent with PEMCO’s policies, values, code of ethics, and business conduct.

What You’ll Bring
- B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in a business or related field.
- 8+ years of personal lines insurance underwriting experience, handling all lines for new and renewal business with increasing responsibility.
- Strong analytical and organized business thinking with the ability to resolve complex problems and present findings clearly.
- Advanced Property & Casualty insurance knowledge.
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
- Proficiency in MS Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Demonstrated experience creating and facilitating learning events on personal lines topics.
- Problem‑solving skills: analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex unstructured problems quickly and collaboratively.
- Team player: responsive, flexible, and able to succeed in a collaborative environment with effective relationships.

Compensation
- Greater Seattle area target range: $105,762–$129,264 (full range $88,135–$146,891).
- Outside Greater Seattle area target range: $93,337–$114,079 (full range $77,781–$129,634).
Benefits
Regular part‑time PEMCO employees working at least 24 hours per week and full‑time employees are eligible for medical, dental, and vision plans. Additional benefits include:
