Job summary

Shepherd is seeking an experienced underwriter to join our client-centric team. This onsite role supports efficient underwriting decisions tailored to client needs across our NYC, SF, Chicago, LA, and Dallas offices.

Candidates should have 5+ years in commercial underwriting (construction, casualty, builder's risk) and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. You will lead negotiations, manage multiple accounts, and collaborate with internal and external partners to close deals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in commercial underwriting (Construction, Casualty, and/or Builder's Risk preferred).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional verbal and written interpersonal skills with high EQ.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Marketing, producer management, new business development, and ability to negotiate on all levels with internal and external partners.
• Teamwork, communication, and negotiation skills are required.
• Solid background in risk analysis and experience with construction/casualty underwriting.
• Be adaptable and creative in a fast paced startup environment.
