Job summary

KeyBank is seeking an experienced underwriter for affordable and market-rate multifamily housing loans in a hands-on, on-site role. You will underwrite transactions, review third-party reports, and collaborate with CMG to meet underwriting goals.

You will lead a team, apply LIHTC and bond financing knowledge, and ensure compliance across all steps of the process. This position emphasizes risk-conscious decision-making and strong client collaboration.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in analyzing affordable multifamily real estate transactions and underwriting fundamentals.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of five (5) years underwriting affordable housing loans (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, private placement).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver well-underwritten, risk-conscious real estate transactions aligned with the business strategy.
• Mentor and lead underwriting teams for affordable housing transactions.
• Collaborate with origination, closing, and servicing teams to ensure agency guidelines compliance.
• Review reports for programmatic compliance and provide timely feedback to vendors.
• Conduct property inspections and market analyses for assigned transactions.
