Job summary

KeyBank is seeking an experienced underwriting professional to join the Commercial Mortgage Group, focusing on affordable multifamily housing. You will underwrite transactions for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Private Placement programs, ensuring risk-conscious decisions and policy compliance.

Responsibilities include leading underwriting teams, collaborating across functional groups, and applying LIHTC and bond financing knowledge to assess viability.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in analyzing affordable multifamily transactions and underwriting fundamentals.
• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience underwriting affordable housing loans incl. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Private Placement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Deliver underwriting and risk-conscious real estate transactions aligned with the business strategy.
• Lead underwriting teams and mentor staff to achieve project goals.
• Collaborate with origination, closing, and servicing teams to ensure compliance with Agency guidelines.
• Review third-party reports for programmatic compliance and provide timely feedback to vendors.
• Perform property inspections and market analyses for assigned transactions.
• Manage internal underwriting and deal management systems to ensure data accuracy.
