Placements24 is seeking a Lead Mining Ventilation Engineer to oversee underground ventilation networks near Welkom and optimize air quality, temperature, and pressure. You will design, implement, and monitor dust control, gas monitoring, and venting systems to support safe and efficient operations.

The role requires extensive experience in underground mine ventilation, strong leadership, and collaboration with planning, operations, and safety teams.

Qualificações

• BEng or BSc in Mining or Mechanical Engineering with ventilation specialization.
• 8+ years in mining ventilation, mainly underground.
• Proficiency in ventilation design, airflow calculations, and network analysis.
• Experience with Ventsim, Strata, and GOLDSIM.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics and air quality management in underground environments.
• Dust control experience; strong analytical and leadership skills.
• Professional registration (Pr.Eng) desirable.
• Willingness to work on-site in Welkom and travel to underground locations.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and optimize underground mine ventilation networks to meet air quality and thermal standards.
• Perform airflow modeling and simulations using ventilation software.
• Implement and manage dust suppression and control measures.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and monitoring of ventilation systems and fans.
• Develop plans for gas monitoring and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct site inspections and audits of ventilation systems.
• Investigate ventilation issues and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with planning, operations, and safety teams to integrate ventilation strategies.
• Supervise and mentor ventilation engineers and technicians.
• Ensure ventilation activities comply with South African mining regulations.
