Job summary

Madergroup in the United States is seeking a Senior Underground Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Trainer to bring advanced repair skills to our underground teams. You will diagnose faults, perform complex maintenance, and share expertise across sites to raise reliability and safety.

You’ll work with multiple OEM platforms (Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Normet, Getman), lead by example on safety, and help develop junior mechanics into senior tradespeople. Travel and on-site rotations are part of the role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience on underground hard rock equipment
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
• Independently able to work in underground environments
• Experience with planned maintenance, inspections, breakdown repairs
• Able to adapt across OEM platforms (Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Normet, Getman)
• Commitment to safe work practices
• Pride in quality workmanship
• Valid driver’s license
• Able to pass background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and complete breakdown repairs underground
• Carry out planned maintenance and inspections to a high standard
• Work across a variety of underground equipment types
• Maintain strong attention to safety and workmanship
• Identify parts and plan upcoming maintenance work
• Contribute to reliable and efficient equipment performance
• Work closely with site teams and other experienced tradespeople
