Job summary

CNPC USA is seeking a highly experienced Sr. Well Engineer with deep North American unconventional drilling and completion experience.

This role acts as a subject‑matter expert and technical bridge between North American operations and CNPC’s teams in China, translating proven best practices into CNPC’s shale gas and tight oil/gas assets. You will design and execute wells, lead field operations, and mentor CNPC engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of North American unconventional drilling and completion experience.
• Strong ability to teach and mentor engineers and field staff.
• Willing to travel internationally, including China.

Responsibilities

• Serve as CNPC’s in-house SME on NA unconventional D&C and provide guidance to China teams.
• Design and plan unconventional wells, including trajectories, casing, and cementing.
• Translate NA best practices to CNPC assets considering geology and regulatory differences.
• Support real-time operations with remote and on-site guidance.
• Mentor CNPC engineers and develop D&C standards and KPIs.
