Job summary

IDEX is seeking a Senior Development Engineer in Portage, MI, to lead ultra-precision diamond turning programs for high‑precision optical and mechanical components. You will develop, validate, and optimize processes; support customer applications; and provide technical leadership across project lifecycles.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Precision Engineering or related field.
7+ years of relevant experience in ultra-precision machining or diamond turning.
Hands-on experience with multi-axis diamond-turning machines.

Responsibilities

Develop and optimize diamond-turning processes for spherical to freeform components.
Program, setup, and operate multi-axis ultra-precision diamond-turning machines.
Translate designs into manufacturable processes using CAD/CAM and programming systems.
Provide technical leadership across applications lifecycle and support customers.
Mentor junior engineers and share best practices.
