Job summary

WEG is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager – Panel Engineering (UL 508A) to lead the design and engineering function for UL 508A listed enclosed panels and engineered panel assemblies across product lines. You will own technical design integrity, code compliance, and day-to-day leadership of a team of engineers and drafters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Working knowledge of UL 508A panel construction requirements.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70, NEMA, IEC standards for industrial panels.
• Proficiency with electrical design/CAD tools and PLM/ERP systems.
• Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, soft starts and industrial controls.
• Experience with engineering change control and design-for-manufacturability.
• Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement experience.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Excellent communication and coaching/mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering function for UL 508A listed panels and assemblies.
• Own compliance of panel designs with UL 508A and act as primary engineering contact for UL inspections.
• Review and approve drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Recruit, hire, train, and develop panel design engineers and drafters.
• Define competency requirements and lead technical training programs.
• Oversee workload balancing, project assignments, and resource allocation.
• Partner with Sales, OEM, and Channel teams on engineered-to-order designs.
• Escalate and resolve complex technical and design issues in panel builds.
• Own engineering change management, revision control, and documentation standards.
• Coordinate with Panel Shop Production on constructability, cost, and lead-times.
• Establish KPIs for throughput, quality, and on-time design release.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time and rework.
• Coordinate root-cause analysis for design-related quality issues.
• Represent Engineering in customer reviews and internal planning.
• Serve as senior liaison between Panel Engineering, Sales/OEM, Quality, and Product Management.
• Support new product introductions and design library development.
• Promote safety, accountability, and high performance within the team.
