Verdantas is seeking a part-time Senior UI/UX Project Designer in Reston, VA (onsite) to shape cohesive, workflow-driven experiences for complex, data-intensive enterprise applications. The role bridges business requirements and end-to-end user experience design, producing documentation and stakeholder-approved UI deliverables.
Role Overview
Design complete user experiences that cover both administrative functionality and end-user workflows. Translate application behavior, user needs, and business requirements into clear interaction models, wireframes, and high-fidelity interface designs. Maintain consistency from discovery through final approved output to reduce implementation gaps and limit independent UX decision-making during development.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of complete, workflow-driven user experiences for complex enterprise applications, including administrative functionality and end-user workflows.
- Document current and future-state user workflows and translate behavior and requirements into wireframes and high-fidelity designs.
- Ensure design decisions carry consistently from discovery through final approved design to minimize implementation gaps.
- Design intuitive experiences for big-data applications, live-data interactions, and complex decision-support workflows.
- Create low-fidelity concepts, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs suitable for stakeholder review and developer implementation.
- Apply UI/UX practices to improve usability, accessibility, interaction quality, and overall user satisfaction.
- Use Adobe XD, Illustrator, and Photoshop to produce clear, production-ready interface designs and supporting assets.
- Contribute reusable design patterns, interface standards, and visual consistency across related applications and workflows.
- Partner with product owners, stakeholders, developers, and technical teams to clarify needs and translate complex concepts into cohesive experiences.
- Facilitate design reviews, incorporate feedback, and drive alignment across business, product, and engineering stakeholders.
- Advise teams on UX implications of workflow, data, and technical decisions to support user-centered outcomes.
- Support implementation clarity with annotations, interaction notes, and design handoff documentation.
- Collaborate with developers working in Java Web, NodeJS, AWS, and related environments to ensure designs are feasible, maintainable, and aligned with technical architecture.
- Support front-end implementation quality by providing guidance on styling and SCSS/SASS, micro-interactions, and user feedback patterns where applicable.
- Work in Agile/Scrum environments and coordinate design deliverables with sprint planning, backlog refinement, and iterative development cycles.
- Use version-controlled or DevOps-enabled collaboration practices, including GitLab where required, to support coordinated delivery.
- Review designs for usability, consistency, accessibility, and implementation readiness prior to stakeholder approval and handoff.
- Provide informal guidance, mentoring, or review support to designers and visualization specialists.
- Contribute to design standards, reusable assets, documentation practices, and workflow-design methods that improve quality and efficiency across teams.
- Support a culture of design quality by helping teams understand user workflows and reduce ambiguity across end-user and administrative needs.

- Experience designing complex, workflow-driven enterprise applications.
- Proficiency with Adobe XD, Illustrator, and Photoshop in the required operating environment.
