Job summary

SAIC seeks a skilled UI/UX Designer (Journeyman) to join our team in Ashburn, VA, for on-site work five days a week in year one. The role emphasizes user research, usability testing, and collaboration with engineering to deliver component-based designs for Angular/React.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, strong wireframing/prototyping skills (Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD), and solid knowledge of HTML/CSS. A robust portfolio and excellent communication are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant UI/UX design experience.
• Strong understanding of modern front-end frameworks (Angular and React).
• Proficient in wireframing/prototyping tools (Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD).
• Solid web tech knowledge (HTML5, CSS3/SASS, responsive layouts).
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients.

Responsibilities

• Duties include conducting user research and usability testing to ensure designs meet user and client requirements.
• Develop mockups for design and development teams.
• Component-Driven Design: wireframes and mockups for Angular/React.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to align wireframes with framework constraints.
• Deliver precise design handoffs, specifications, and interactive prototypes.
• Develop and maintain design wireframes and specifications.
• Collaborate with visual designers to incorporate brand identity.
• Communicate screen designs and end-to-end experiences to project team.
• Consider human-computer interaction elements in design.
• Compare UX of existing apps and design better alternatives.
• Keep current with industry trends and communicate prototypes to developers.
• Work with development teams to implement attractive designs with consistency.
• Develop task flows and wireframes based on user needs.
