7+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with strong experience designing applications for mobile and tablet devices, preferably Android-based applications.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer with strong experience in designing intuitive, responsive, and user-friendly experiences for mobile and tablet applications.

The candidate does not need hands-on Android development experience but should have a strong understanding of Android device design considerations, responsive/adaptive layouts, screen sizes, orientations, touch interactions, navigation patterns, and Material Design principles.

The role will involve working closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, developers, and QA teams to translate business requirements into high-quality UI/UX designs and ensure that the implemented application provides a consistent and intuitive user experience across Android devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the UI/UX design lifecycle for mobile and tablet applications from requirements analysis through final design and implementation support.
  • Understand business requirements and user workflows and translate them into:
  • Wireframes
  • High-fidelity mockups
  • Interactive prototypes
  • Design user experiences specifically optimized for Android mobile and tablet devices.
  • Design for different screen sizes, resolutions, aspect ratios, and orientations, including portrait and landscape modes.
  • Consider device-specific characteristics such as touch interaction, screen real estate, navigation, gestures, keyboard/input behavior, and accessibility.
  • Design interfaces that work effectively on larger tablet screens while maintaining usability and consistency with mobile experiences.
  • Apply Material Design principles and Android UI/UX guidelines when designing application screens.
  • Create reusable UI components and contribute to a consistent design system.
  • Define appropriate layouts, spacing, typography, icons, controls, navigation patterns, and interaction behaviors.
  • Work with developers to ensure design feasibility and accurate implementation of the approved UI/UX.
  • Review implemented screens and provide feedback to ensure design fidelity and consistency with approved designs.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to identify and resolve UI/UX-related issues.
  • Analyze existing applications and identify opportunities for UX simplification, modernization, and usability improvements.
  • Conduct design reviews with stakeholders and incorporate feedback into the designs.
  • Participate in usability testing and use feedback to improve user journeys and application experiences.
  • Ensure designs consider accessibility, usability, performance perception, and consistency across supported devices.
  • Maintain design documentation, specifications, component libraries, and design guidelines.
Required UI/UX Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar UI/UX tools.
  • Strong experience in:
  • User-centered design
  • User journeys and workflows
  • Wireframing
  • Prototyping
  • Usability testing
  • Strong understanding of responsive and adaptive design.
  • Experience designing for mobile and tablet applications.
  • Strong understanding of touch-based interfaces and mobile interaction patterns.
  • Experience designing applications across different screen sizes and orientations.
  • Knowledge of Material Design and Android design guidelines.
  • Understanding of accessibility principles and mobile usability best practices.
  • Experience creating and maintaining design systems and reusable UI components.

The candidate is not required to be an Android developer, but should have practical knowledge of designing applications for Android devices, including:

  • Android mobile and tablet screen specifications and constraints.
  • Designing for different screen densities, resolutions, and aspect ratios.
  • Responsive/adaptive layouts for tablets and mobile devices.
  • Portrait and landscape orientations.
  • Touch targets and gesture-based interactions.
  • Android navigation patterns and common UI components.
  • Dialogs, bottom sheets, menus, tabs, lists, forms, cards, and other mobile UI patterns.
  • Android accessibility considerations.
  • Understanding how designs translate into actual mobile/tablet application interfaces.
  • Ability to work with developers to address device-specific UI/UX challenges.
Tablet-Specific Experience – Preferred

Experience designing applications for enterprise or rugged/tablet devices is highly desirable.

The candidate should understand how to:

  • Optimize application layouts for larger tablet screens.
  • Design multi-column, master-detail, split-screen, and expanded layouts where appropriate.
  • Adapt navigation and workflows for tablet users.
  • Design for both portrait and landscape orientations.
  • Ensure controls and touch targets are appropriate for tablet usage.
  • Maintain consistency when the same application is used across different device sizes.
  • Account for device-specific constraints such as hardware buttons, camera/scanner integration, keyboards, or other peripherals where applicable.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Business Analysts to understand business requirements and user needs.
  • Collaborate with developers to validate technical feasibility without being responsible for Android coding.
  • Work with QA teams to validate UI/UX implementation against approved designs.
