Akaasa Technologies is seeking a Senior UI/UX Developer/Architect to build and maintain an enterprise design system with WCAG-driven accessibility. The role emphasizes reusable components, Storybook, and USWDS-like patterns to ensure consistency across applications and River AI Chatbot projects.

The ideal candidate will lead cross-functional collaboration, mentor teammates, and deliver accessible front-end assets that meet federal standards by the April deadline.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of front-end development experience.
• Experience building enterprise design systems with reusable components.
• Strong WCAG 2.1/AAA knowledge and ARIA.
• Proficiency in HTML, SASS, and Angular.
• Experience using Storybook for component development.
• Knowledge of USWDS or similar enterprise design systems.
• Understanding of UX best practices and accessible UI design.
• Ability to mentor teams on accessibility and design system practices.

Responsibilities

• Design System Development: Build, document, and maintain a scalable design system and reusable component library using USWDS framework or similar enterprise systems.
• Accessible Component Development: Develop wrapper components with HTML, SASS, and Angular to ensure accessibility across apps and the River AI Chatbot.
• Accessibility Compliance: Ensure WCAG 2.1/AAA compliance through semantic HTML, ARIA roles, and testing workflows.
• Storybook Integration: Use Storybook for development, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Collaboration and Mentorship: Mentor teams on accessibility and design system best practices.
• Project Support: Provide accessibility and UX support for major state systems to meet deadlines.
• Code and Accessibility Reviews: Participate in reviews and audits for quality and usability.
