Job summary

Shield AI's VBAT Software team is seeking an embedded software engineer to develop and maintain avionics software for V-Bat aircraft. You will work across hardware, operating systems, and applications to build robust systems that meet safety and performance requirements.

You will participate in architecture reviews, write high‑quality C/C++ code, integrate RTOS on SOMs, and help create CI/CD pipelines for embedded workflows.

Qualifications

BS/MS/PhD in a relevant STEM field.
Strong C/C++ and bare-metal firmware experience.
Experience with Linux kernel or RTOS and device trees.
Multi-threaded programming and thread safety.
Proven track record shipping products in fast-paced environments.
Aerospace/UAV experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop high-quality C/C++ code for V-Bat aircraft.
Refine firmware for new hardware and features.
Integrate RTOS onto a System-On-a-Module (SOM).
Develop firmware to control robotic vehicles in flight.
Create CI/CD pipelines for embedded systems.
Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
Integrate software across departments (firmware, tests, autonomy).
Develop interfaces to avionics sensors, sub-systems and payloads.
Prototype to validate critical concepts and inform decisions.
