Job summary

Shield AI is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop and maintain avionics software for the V-Bat family. You will work with hardware, GNC, autonomy teams and customers to deliver robust embedded systems.

Responsibilities include RTOS bring-up, firmware development, CI/CD pipelines, and integration of software from multiple departments to support UAV avionics and sensors. Bachelor's or higher in STEM required; strong C/C++ skills a must.

Qualifications

• Rock-solid software development experience in C/C++.
• Experience in bare-metal firmware development for embedded systems.
• Linux Kernel or RTOS development - device trees and bring up on new hardware.
• Familiarity with writing thread-safe multi-threaded programs.
• Demonstrated ownership over development processes and features and delivering outcomes.
• Proven track record of shipping products in fast-paced environments.
• Proactive identifying opportunities for improvement within software projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality C/C++ code tailored for V-Bat aircraft.
• Refine firmware to support new hardware, features, and capabilities.
• Integrate RTOS onto System-On-a-Module (SOM).
• Develop firmware to control robotic vehicles in flight.
• Create CI/CD pipelines with automated testing for embedded systems.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
