Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer to design, develop and maintain electrical control systems for unmanned aircraft vehicles.

You will select components based on specs, analyze reliability, and perform detailed design, documentation and testing of electronic and mechanical subsystems. Responsibilities include coordinating manufacturing and testing, ensuring safety and design conformance, and supporting flight test operations with avionics and RF links.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related is required; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience: 8–12 years in relevant electrical engineering.
• Proficient with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Knowledge of HDL programming, FPGA, RF, embedded control.

Responsibilities

• Operate CAD/CAE tools to perform engineering tasks and support R&D projects.
• Coordinate manufacturing, installation, testing, and documentation per specs.
• Inspect installations to ensure conformance to design and safety standards.
• Collaborate with avionics, embedded systems, and RF links; support flight tests.
• Troubleshoot complex systems and document designs with drawings and descriptions.
• Develop budgets, estimate labor and material costs; design decisions impact cost and schedule.
• Provide technical supervision across disciplines; may lead a team or project.
