Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. seeks an Engineering Flight Test Specialist III to serve as remote pilot in command for unmanned aircraft systems during flight testing, ATPs, and demonstrations.

You will lead post-flight reporting, review aircraft performance, and coordinate demo activities. The role requires 4–6 years’ relevant experience, a clean DMV record, and the ability to travel frequently within the continental U.S.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 4–6 years of relevant work experience or equivalent.
• Experience with manufacturing systems, processes and procedures.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
• Experience controlling RC aircraft requiring quick thinking and emergency procedures.
• Must have clean DMV record to drive company vehicles.
• Ability to travel within the Continental U.S. (Frequent).
• Must pass FAA Part 107 Small Unmanned Aircraft exam.
• Must pass Annual Proficiency And Readiness Test (APART).

Responsibilities

• Prepares detailed post flight test reporting and ensures adherence to safety protocols.
• Provides feedback on aircraft performance to department personnel.
• Performs flight demonstrations and manages demo equipment and travel.
• Tests acceptance quality control system before and after flight tests.
• Manages flight teams inventory and ensures equipment is in good working order.
• Checks in and out flight test-owned equipment.
• Analyzes and solves problems that arise during flight testing.
• Exhibits good judgment, takes initiative, and may lead a team on new assignments.
• Other duties as assigned.
