Firestorm Labs in Rome, NY is seeking a Senior Integrations Engineer to lead payload integration for next‑gen UAS, working with DoD customers on site to specify, install, test and troubleshoot.

Bring avionics, embedded systems, RF and real‑time software expertise to deliver mission‑ready systems, collaborating with platform, autonomy and software teams.

A hands‑on problem solver with UAV experience and strong integration leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years in systems integration, troubleshooting, and field operations.
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Strong networking knowledge: Ethernet, TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs, wireless.
• Proficient with Linux and Windows, strong CLI skills.
• Programming in Python, Bash, Shell, and C/C++, including embedded software.
• Experience with avionics, RF equipment, and integrated hardware stacks.
• Familiarity with SDRs, virtualization, and container tools (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of cybersecurity for embedded systems and tactical networks.
• Strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Integrate avionics, mission payloads, flight controllers and embedded subsystems to meet reliability and safety standards.
• Configure and troubleshoot tactical and airborne networks, RF links, and embedded communications.
• Diagnose electromechanical, avionics, and embedded software issues in lab and field.
• Translate mission requirements into clear technical specifications.
• Develop embedded and application‑level software; write automation scripts in Python, Bash, and C/C++.
• Create and execute test plans; validate performance and provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with Technical Writers to develop integration guides, test reports, manuals, and troubleshooting materials.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams and leverage Firestorm’s tooling to accelerate development.
• Provide feedback to hardware design and manufacturing; assist in repair and rework as needed.
• Support MECCS configuration, deployment, and integration; assemble hardware and software payloads as required.
• Stay updated on avionics, embedded systems, UAV tech, and cyber norms.
