Job summary

Firestorm Labs in San Diego, CA, seeks a Chief Engineer to lead the UAS program's hardware and software architecture, ensuring architectural coherence across subsystems. You will drive end-to-end technical decisions, chair design reviews, and manage risk and configuration control while interfacing with program management.

The role requires deep systems engineering experience, flight test know-how, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable milestones, with a US security clearance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
• 12+ years in aerospace development with at least 3 years in a technical program execution role.
• Experience with flight controls, airframe development, or payload integration desirable.
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the program's hardware and software architecture and define interfaces across platforms.
• Provide technical oversight and resolve architecture trade-offs between mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software leads.
• Define the T&E strategy; approve test plans and review results to support go/no-go decisions.
