Job summary

AEVEX seeks an UAS Chief Engineer to lead end-to-end system engineering for advanced unmanned systems, spanning air, ground, and maritime domains. You will guide cross-functional teams, align technical roadmaps with customer needs, and ensure deliverables meet DoD standards, security requirements, and cost/schedule targets.

The role demands 15+ years in defense/aerospace engineering, strong MBSE and risk management, and the ability to articulate technical strategy to government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Security clearance or ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI DoD clearance.
• Extensive experience with complex systems engineering for unmanned or autonomous defense systems.
• Additive manufacturing expertise for UAS and related platforms.
• Strong MBSE and lifecycle management knowledge.
• Experience interfacing with DoD customers and government program offices.
• Proven leadership of large, multidisciplinary teams in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership for additive manufactured unmanned system programs from concept to deployment and sustainment.
• Serve as the technical authority for system architecture, design trade studies, integration strategies, and risk management.
• Lead system engineering processes including requirements development, verification, and configuration management.
• Oversee multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software, controls, AI/ML, autonomy, cybersecurity).
• Develop and maintain technical roadmaps aligned with defense customer needs and emerging requirements.
• Lead major technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR) to ensure program maturity.
• Ensure compliance with DoD standards, MIL-STDs, airworthiness certifications, and export regulations (ITAR/EAR).
• Mentor senior staff and promote best practices in additive manufacturing and product development.
