Zusammenfassung

The Assistant Chief Deputy District Attorney (DDA-III) reviews, prepares and tries criminal cases in Jefferson County; presents juvenile delinquency and dependency cases in juvenile court; provides related legal advice to law enforcement agencies and the Community Justice Department; and other functions as required; performs related legal research and writing.

This is the fully experienced trial attorney level, capable of supervising a trial team and handling the most difficult cases; may

Qualifikationen

Bachelor’s degree and JD from an accredited law school; 4–6 years progressive attorney experience.
Preference for experience supervising a trial team.
Strong knowledge of criminal law and trial practice.

Aufgaben

Examine investigation reports and determine further action; file charges as appropriate.
Prepare affidavits, warrants, motions, and court documents; conduct legal research.
Appear in circuit court for arraignments, hearings, and trials to present the State’s case.
Interview victims and witnesses; prepare subpoenas and notices of court events.
Negotiate case resolutions in line with facts, law, and policy.
Prepare and present cases to grand jury; supervise debtors and staff as assigned.
Consult with police on investigations and provide legal guidance as needed.
