Job description

The Senior Treasury Manager is responsible for providing senior leadership over the College's treasury, cash management, banking, debt service, investment administration, billing and receipts, and related financial operations. Specifically responsible for overseeing and strengthening financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and operational processes across Accounts Payable, Procurement, Student Financial Services billing and receipts, and other finance areas; assessing treasury products, services, technologies, and systems; recommending short-term investment and liquidity strategies; supporting debt and financing administration; cultivating banking relationships; and serving as a key partner to the Controller/Treasury Director on treasury operations, financial controls, process improvement, and special projects.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Evaluates, develops, and recommends fiscal policies relating to treasury management, cash operations, debt service, banking, Accounts Payable, Procurement, and Student Financial Services billing and receipts. Oversees cash management, liquidity planning, cash forecasting, short-term investment activity, and related reporting to support operating needs and strategic decision-making. Maintains and cultivates banking, investment, custodial, and other financial service provider relationships. Recommends items for strategic planning, liquidity management, short-term investing, and alternative financing strategies. Oversees debt service administration, bond-related schedules, letters of credit, performance bonds, guarantees, and related treasury reporting and controls. Analyzes, interprets, and communicates financial operating results, cash activity, debt obligations, and treasury performance to provide information and guidance to the Controller/Treasury Director. Takes a lead role in capital structure, debt management, bond issuance, debt service planning, and financing analysis to ensure the efficient use of the institution’s capacity and borrowed monies. Serves as a treasury and finance operations contact for cross-departmental projects, including billing, receipts, collections, payroll-related financial controls, and systems initiatives. Collaborates with the Controller/Treasury Director in the preparation of the annual treasury budget. Assists with developing key inputs into the balance sheet, income statements, cash flow statements, operating budgets, and treasury-related forecasts for annual planning. Coordinates internal/external audits to ensure regulatory compliance. Serves as Subject Matter Expert for accounting questions and valuation matters. Participates in and oversees the monthly and year-end close of AP, Procurement, SFS Student Billing, treasury activity, cash reconciliations, and the preparation and review of financial statements. Manages the review of College bank reports, cash activity, collections, and electronic transfers; communicates with Accounts Payable and the Controller/Treasury Director; reviews for unauthorized electronic transfers; and assists in the escheated funds process. Reviews reconciliations prepared by staff as appropriate and ensures timely resolution of outstanding items and variances. Responsible for ongoing implementation of accounting procedures and internal controls as determined by the Controller/Treasury Director. Assists in the documentation, evaluation, and testing of the College’s internal controls. Supports oversight of restricted, fiduciary, trust, agency, or similar funds, including related accounting, reconciliations, reporting, governance, and coordination with external managers or custodians. Responsible for maintaining proper security to protect confidential information & disposing of CFI in an appropriate manner (i.e., shredding/deleting electronic documents, etc.). Assists the College’s IT Department with assessing the College's compliance with the PCI data security standard. Leads or supports financial systems and technology initiatives that improve treasury operations, billing, collections, reconciliations, reporting, and internal controls. Supports the Controller/Treasury Director with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects as assigned. Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required. A minimum of 10-15 years of increasingly responsible leadership experience in treasury, accounting, public finance, banking, investment administration, debt management, or financial operations. Must have strong treasury, accounting, financial analysis, cash management, and internal control skills with the ability to apply a financial perspective and analysis for business decisions. Demonstrated experience with cash management, banking operations, debt service, investment administration, collections, financial reporting, and reconciliations. Experience with public-sector, nonprofit, higher education, municipal finance, or other complex institutional finance environments preferred. Demonstrated effectiveness in working with a diverse student body, faculty, staff, and other constituents. Must have superior leadership and coordination skills with the ability to engage others through a democratic process, while serving as key decision maker. Ability to establish creditability and confidence with stakeholders. Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, and the ability to be effective engaging with all levels within the college. Must have excellent management and leadership skills. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent attention to detail. Must have project management expertise. Ability to be flexible and a willingness to assume new tasks and special projects. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to multi-task. Ability to embrace ideas and changes created by all community members. Ability to work independently to solve problems; look for opportunities to take on responsibility; take thoughtful risks; and effectively act on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results. Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

Requires work onsite a minimum of 1 day a week in Wellesley, MA; the on-campus requirement is subject to modification based on organizational need.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

Professional certification in treasury, municipal finance, accounting, cash management, or related discipline preferred. Workday Financials a plus. MBA, advanced degree, or specialized training in finance, accounting, treasury, public finance, or related discipline preferred. This is an exempt position with the following pay range: $180,428 - $200,476; the role is also eligible for bonuses based on performance and budget.
