Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Experienced Field Engineer to join the Structured Cabling Group. The role requires coordinating field activities, engaging with team members, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers across multiple projects with a 100% travel schedule.

The position involves pre-construction support, DFW management, and on-site operating responsibilities including QA/QC, inventory, and closeout processes. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and field experience.
• Detail orientation and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to travel 100% on a rotational basis.
• Current driver’s license.
• Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of construction law and generally accepted business practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide Pre-Construction support.
• Manage submittal and RFI processes for definable features of work (DFW).
• Evaluate project design and engineering documents and distribute to parties.
• Prepare turnover binder templates.
• Assist in pre-mobilization kickoff meetings and subcontract/purchase agreements.
• Manage QA/QC per Project Quality Plan and site inventory/control.
• Coordinate drawings (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and lift/formwork designs.
• Support Closeout with turnover documentation and final inspections.
• Participate in project safety audits and Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety Program.
