Job summary

The Maine Turnpike Authority (MTA) seeks a Transportation Project Manager to join its Engineering team in Portland, Maine. The role coordinates and administers high-priority design and construction projects to ensure on-time, on-budget completion across the Turnpike system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• At least four years of experience as a Project Manager/Designer on transportation projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Maine.
• Valid Maine Class C driver's license.
• Strong knowledge of highway, bridge, and structure design/construction; familiarity with MUTCD, CADD, Bluebeam, and work zone traffic control.

Responsibilities

• Oversee consultants and MTA staff in developing project plans, specifications and engineering estimates.
• Manage consultant performance, contracts, and task orders.
• Coordinate right-of-way needs, utility coordination, traffic data and environmental permitting compliance.
• Provide constructability reviews and manage Supplemental Specifications and Special Provisions per MaineDOT standards.
• Perform technical engineering reviews and design work (drainage, pavement structure, highway design).
• Direct CADD and shop drawing submittals and coordinate with Public Relations, ITS, Maintenance and external stakeholders.
