LVI Associates is partnered with a nationally recognized engineering and infrastructure consulting firm seeking a Senior Transportation Project Manager to join its Chicago team. You will lead complex roadway projects, manage multidisciplinary teams, and build lasting client relationships with IDOT, the Tollway, and local municipalities.

You’ll shape projects from planning through final design and construction, ensuring quality, schedules, and budgets while supporting growth in Illinois

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of transportation engineering experience.
• 5+ years of project management and client-facing experience in Illinois.
• Illinois PE license.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation and roadway projects through planning, design, and construction support.
• Manage scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and project performance.
• Serve as primary client contact with agencies and stakeholders.
• Build relationships with public-sector transportation clients in Illinois.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced transportation professional to lead complex roadway projects, build lasting client relationships, manage multidisciplinary teams, and play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure improvements across Illinois.

You’ll work directly with agencies such as the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois Tollway, and local municipalities while helping shape projects from early planning through final design and construction.

What You’ll Do

• Lead transportation and roadway projects through all phases of delivery, from planning and design through construction support.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and overall project performance.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Build and strengthen relationships with public-sector transportation clients throughout Illinois.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, technicians, and consultants.
• Mentor and develop junior staff while promoting a collaborative team environment.
• Coordinate project meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
• Ensure project deliverables meet agency requirements, design standards, and quality expectations.
• Support strategic growth initiatives and business development efforts within the transportation practice.
• Monitor project financial performance, including invoicing, contracts, and profitability.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of transportation engineering experience.
• 5+ years of project management and client-facing experience in Illinois.
• Proven experience delivering roadway or transportation infrastructure projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-management skills.
• Experience working with public-sector transportation agencies and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
• Familiarity with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, and/or Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) standards and procedures.
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel up to 20% as project needs require.
