Job summary

Metro Associates in the Greater Chicago region is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer / Project Manager to lead roadway and highway design, manage teams, and deliver major infrastructure projects across Illinois.

The role emphasizes project management, client coordination, and adherence to state standards, with PE licensure in Illinois preferred. Candidate will mentor CAD staff and ensure quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license (Illinois PE).
• 7–12 years of progressive transportation design experience.
• Experience with state transportation agency standards and project delivery processes.
• Strong understanding of highway and roadway design principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design teams in the development of transportation infrastructure projects including highways, roadways, and bridge-related corridor work.
• Prepare roadway design plans, corridor models, and staging concepts.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts and manage deliverables.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical scope when serving as Project Manager.
• Coordinate work with subconsultants and external stakeholders.
