Job summary

RK&K seeks a Senior Project Engineer to plan, design, and deliver transportation projects using ORD, with collaboration across offices and delivery types including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3. The role involves mentoring engineers, liaising with clients and stakeholders, and leading design tasks with a focus on quality and standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active PE license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on a wide range of transportation projects (highways, interchanges, tollways, transit corridors).
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop innovative design solutions.
• Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposal development, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development within the project team.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with applicable standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging alternative delivery methods.
