Job summary

Neel-Schaffer, Inc. seeks a Transportation Planning Lead to direct SC planning efforts from Columbia, Charleston, or Greenville. You will supervise staff, manage projects, and guide client engagements for a wide range of transportation plans.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in planning, with leadership or PM experience, and often an AICP or PE certification. You will mentor teams, pursue growth opportunities, and stay current on industry trends and technologies.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive transportation planning experience, including 5+ years leading staff.
• Bachelor’s degree in planning, engineering, geography, public policy, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• AICP or PE strongly preferred; additional leadership or project management certs desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead SC transportation planning assignments including long-range, mobility, MPO/DOT, transit, safety, and active transportation plans.
• Oversee project execution: tasks, schedules, budgets, staffing, risks, quality control.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and leadership to deliver successful plans.
• Serve as primary client contact for MPOs, DOTs, transit agencies, counties, and municipalities.
• Identify opportunities for market growth and client development.
• Support major pursuits, proposals, and industry trend monitoring.
