Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or trade school certificate required.
• Two (2) years documented experience in the trade or craft.
• Valid Florida CDL or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 pounds and other strenuous tasks.
• Satisfactory clearance of criminal history records check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform school bus safety inspections per DoE Manual.
• Prepare inspection reports, conduct inspections, and perform maintenance/repairs.
• Remove vehicles from service when necessary.
• Repair vehicles according to work orders and guidance from management.
• Document repairs and complete work orders; communicate additional needs.
• Carry out preventive maintenance per schedule (oil, tires, fluids, filters, belts).
• Repair/replace parts (mirrors, glass, windshields, doors, wipers).
• Use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and test equipment for repairs.
• Conduct road tests to verify repair effectiveness; final inspection before release.
• Maintain clean and safe work area; manage daily workflow and time.
• Transport vehicles between locations; assist with parts inventory and road calls.
