Job summary

ATCS is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector for Virginia projects, based in the NOVA District at Herndon headquarters. You will inspect highway, bridge, environmental and facilities work, oversee crews, perform field tests, and prepare daily reports with pay quantity calculations.

Required: 6+ years in roadway inspection with VDOT familiarity, VRE experience, OSHA safety compliance, and proficiency with MS Office, SiteManager, PlanGrid. Competitive hourly rate with bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of contractor or inspection experience in roadway construction with VDOT experience.
• Knowledge of VDOT Road and Bridges specifications and standards.
• Previous experience working on Virginia Railway Express (VRE).
• OSHA safety requirements on road and bridge construction sites.
• Knowledge of mathematics including algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
• Proficiency with field engineering and testing equipment and inspection methods.

Responsibilities

• Perform transportation construction inspections on Highway, Bridges, Environmental, Traffic, and Facilities projects.
• Write daily progress reports.
• Oversee contractor work crews to ensure compliance with contract documents and safe practices.
• Perform field tests on materials (concrete slump/air, soil compaction, HMA).
• Complete documentation of materials, labor compliance, safety, processing estimates, and work orders.
• Report on-site activities and daily progress to the Project Engineer and calculate pay quantities.
