Job summary

Waggoner Engineering is seeking a CEI Senior Inspector – Transportation for projects in the Birmingham, AL area. You will perform complex field surveying, construction layout, engineering computations, and inspections, while coordinating and mentoring junior inspectors to meet quality and code requirements.

The role requires 8+ years CEI experience or a Civil Engineering degree plus 2+ years on ALDOT projects, with strong written communication and the ability to work independently in outdoor

Qualifications

• Experience with CE&I project work or ALDOT projects is required.
• Ability to coordinate and mentor inspectors and crews.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform field surveying and construction layout, inspect work, and conduct field tests.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and monitor QA/QC.
• Coordinate, manage, and mentor lower‑level inspectors; provide on‑the‑job training.
