Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a certified inspector to perform and document highway and bridge project inspections across multiple disciplines. The role requires maintaining SCDOT/SCDHEC certifications and entering daily reports in AASHTOWare.

A high school diploma with two years related engineering technician experience is required; technician certification may substitute for part of the experience. A valid driver's license is required; overtime and weekend work may be required during

Qualifications

High school diploma with at least 2 years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience.
Valid driver's license required.
Certification per SCDOT Technician Certification Policy may substitute for up to 6 months of related experience.

Responsibilities

Inspect daily contractor work on highway and bridge projects across multiple disciplines (asphalt, concrete, earthwork, drainage).
Document field measurements and enter data into AASHTOWare daily for accurate payments.
Prepare construction reports and wage interviews; monitor traffic control devices per specs.
Notify supervisor of site issues and resolve conflicts; supervise day-to-day operations; may require overtime or weekend work.
