Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionAre you a skilled water resources engineer with a passion for hydrology and hydraulic design? Rinker Design Associates (RDA) is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer – Water Resources to lead impactful projects and provide innovative solutions for transportation design challenges. Join a team of dedicated professionals driving excellence in infrastructure development.

Locations: Manassas, Richmond, Virginia Beach, and Waynesboro
What You’ll Do

  • Lead Water Resources Design Projects: Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, outfall analysis, and stream restoration for transportation projects.
  • Drive Project Success: Lead technical discussions, team meetings, and project presentations while ensuring design objectives are met.
  • Provide Design Expertise: Deliver design support across multiple moderate-sized projects and lead designs for smaller initiatives.
  • Ensure Quality: Maintain high standards for deliverables and perform quality control on peers’ work.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Interact with clients, agency representatives, contractors, and internal teams to achieve project goals.
  • Support Project Management: Assist project managers in meeting schedules and budgets while contributing to technical excellence.


What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Licensure: Registration as a P.E. in Virginia is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in water resources and hydraulic engineering design.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of VDOT, AASHTO, FHWA, and DEQ standards, with a robust technical design background.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in design tools such as MicroStation, InRoads, Geopak, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D is .
  • Team and Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
