If you’re interested in leading impactful water infrastructure projects and growing with a dynamic team, this opportunity is for you. As a Senior Water Engineer at AKS, you will oversee the design and implementation of water systems serving cities, counties, and communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. You will also have the chance to develop your leadership skills, mentor junior staff, and contribute to expanding our Public Works practice from your home office.

What You’ll Do
  1. Lead planning, design, and execution of water production, treatment, storage, and distribution projects.
  2. Build strong relationships with public agency clients by understanding their needs and delivering high-quality results.
  3. Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with internal teams such as survey, natural resources, and construction support.
  4. Develop scopes, budgets, and schedules for projects primarily in Oregon and Washington.
  5. Prepare and review specifications, technical reports, and project documentation.
  6. Depending on your experience, contribute to business development and manage entire project life cycles.
Who You Are
  1. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Oregon or Washington, or eligible within 6 months.
  2. 10+ years of experience in water infrastructure design (production, treatment, storage, and/or distribution).
  3. Skilled in AutoCAD Civil 3D and water modeling software like WaterCAD.
  4. Excellent communicator who enjoys building trust with clients and mentoring engineers.
  5. Familiar with design guidelines (AWWA, EPA, etc.) and adept at summarizing complex technical information.
  6. Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
Nice to Have
  1. Experience working with Oregon and Washington public agencies.
  2. Background in trenchless technologies or utility master planning.
  3. Experience managing full projects, including budget, schedule, and client communications.
  4. Familiar with Bluebeam Revu and other project delivery tools.
  5. Confident public speaker comfortable presenting to stakeholders, councils, or boards.
