Job summary

The City of Glendale Transportation Department seeks a Principal Engineer to lead complex civil engineering projects and supervise assigned staff on roadway programs.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s in Civil/Water Resources/Transportation, with at least five years of professional experience and one year in a lead role. Arizona PE registration is required or obtainable within six months. This is a full-time, on-site position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering specialty such as Civil, Water Resources or Transportation
• Five years of increasingly responsible experience as a professional engineer in the area of assignment including one year of lead or supervisory experience
• Arizona PE registration or eligibility and within six months of hire

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and manages the activities of assigned staff within department.
• Reviews, evaluates, and approves civil engineering studies, designs, or plans.
• Coordinates city projects with other departments, municipalities, and agencies.
• Prepares written and oral reports for City management and City Council.
• Represents the City on professional and technical committees.
