Job summary

SLR Consulting (Americas) seeks a Principal Transportation Engineer or Planner to lead transportation planning within the CAMP team in New Haven, CT. You will drive private development traffic impact work, public-sector mobility planning, and safe streets initiatives.

The role emphasizes business development, staff leadership, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, with in-person presence in New Haven a couple of days weekly. Travel to NE US may be required as projects arise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Transportation Engineering or Planning or related field.
• 15+ years of increasingly responsible professional experience.
• Professional Engineer license or transportation-focused certification (e.g., PTP, PTOE, RSP).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with local, state, and federal guidelines/policies/procedures.
• Familiarity with HCS, SYNCHRO/SimTraffic, VISSIM, CADD, GIS software.
• Ability to research, present and convey information clearly and concisely.
• Desire to be on the forefront of evolving transportation planning field.
• Knowledge of emerging best-practices.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel by airplane and car, including overnight travel.
• Critical thinking and strong communication skills (written, visual, interpersonal).
• Efficient, thorough, detail-oriented, and dedicated to quality work.
• Ability to establish, manage, maintain and grow client relationships.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment across numerous disciplines.
