Job summary

SEH is seeking a Sr. Transportation/Highway Engineer to join its Transportation team in Minnesota. You will work with award-winning leaders, developing and directing multiple highway projects for diverse clients while mentoring staff and maintaining client relationships.

The position emphasizes collaboration, ongoing professional development, and a culture of ownership and accountability within a 900+ employee-owned firm. Base compensation reflects experience and project scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Minnesota
• Ability to travel as needed for meetings, client consultations, and on-site inspections
• Experience in highway design and construction of MNDOT projects
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Design experience in MicroStation/GeoPak/ORD (Open Roads Designer)

Responsibilities

• Work and learn from award-winning transportation team leaders.
• Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct multiple projects for varied clients.
• Maintain close relationships with clients throughout development and after completion.
• Manage, mentor, and collaborate with staff to foster a positive team environment.
• Keep current on regulatory programs, funding, design standards, and procedures via continuing education and professional associations.
• Represent SEH at project and public meetings with agencies.
• Prepare project approaches, scopes, and fees to complete projects.
• Present proposals to clients, interview for projects, and assemble project teams.
• Determine major design decisions in collaboration with clients.
• Perform complex design calculations and QA/QC to ensure quality.
