Job summary

Caltrans in California is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisory) to lead the PS&E development for Maintenance initiated projects, supervise transportation engineering staff, and drive on-time delivery.

The role involves coordinating with district offices, DOE, and HQ, reviewing plans, estimates, and addenda, and ensuring compliance with state standards while supporting RTL and CFD project delivery.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of capital and maintenance project delivery, and/or preparation of project initiation documents/project reports, working through construction phase of projects.
• Knowledge of highway engineering including pavement preservation and rehabilitation treatments, pavement distress identification, and drainage preservation/reconstruction projects.
• Familiarity with bridge maintenance projects including preparation of bridge preservation/maintenance project initiation documents based on SM&I reports.
• Ability to schedule milestones and prepare PS&E for Capital, HM, Minor A/B, and Director’s Order projects to meet delivery goals within budget.

Responsibilities

• Develop PS&E for HM and other projects under supervision.
• Review ~30% of Maintenance projects for RTL status with DOE and provide comments/addenda.
• Coordinate with PEs, DOE, and HQOE to finalize PS&E and respond to bidder inquiries.
• Ensure PS&E are complete, conform to standards, and ready for HQOE submittal.
