Job summary

Johnson Service Group is seeking a Lead drainage engineer in Salt Lake City, UT, to head drainage design for transportation infrastructure. The role requires a minimum of 10 years' experience and strong leadership to guide project teams and coordinate client communications.

The ideal candidate will be a licensed Utah PE (or eligible) with proficiency in OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, Civil-3D, and hydrologic software.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of drainage design experience related to transportation infrastructure projects.
• Licensed Utah Professional Engineer (PE) required or able to obtain licensure promptly.
• Experience leading drainage engineering teams on highways, interchanges, and other transportation facilities.
• Strong ability to collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Responsibilities

• Lead drainage engineering teams on transportation projects including freeways, interstates, interchanges, urban and rural highways, and shared-use facilities.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support design and construction of transportation infrastructure and related sites.
• Design drainage systems such as storm sewers, culverts, detention/ water quality facilities, and bridge deck drainage.
• Coordinate and oversee the work of the design team to ensure accuracy and adherence to requirements.
• Prepare plans/details using OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, and Civil-3D; QC erosion control and stormwater plans and reports.
• Serve as lead drainage technical liaison with clients on project efforts; manage local staff.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering

Licensed Utah Professional Engineer

Master’s Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering
