Job summary

Wade Trim is hiring a Transportation Construction Inspector to join our Detroit area team, with offices in Taylor, Detroit, Ann Arbor or Flint. A high school diploma and 5+ years of MDOT inspection experience are required, along with FieldManager/Book and MDOT contract knowledge.

SESC/Storm Water and related testing certifications are preferred. The role involves field inspections, leading inspectors, documenting work in FieldManager/AASHTOWare/Bluebeam, and maintaining strong client relations

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections to verify contract requirements for road and bridge work.
• Lead and manage multiple inspectors on one or more projects.
• Prepare and review daily reports in FieldManager/Book and AASHTOWare.
• Organize documentation in FieldManager, AASHTOWare, and Bluebeam.
• Act as on-site liaison with client and community.
• Interact with contractors and understand plans and specs.
• Assist Project Manager with contract requirements.
• Prepare forms and paperwork promptly.
• Attend seminars and training courses.
• Maintain client relations and safe work environment.

Position Description

We are looking for a Transportation Construction Inspector to join our Construction team to improve infrastructure in our Taylor, Detroit, Ann Arbor or Flint office. Candidates must have a high school diploma and a minimum of five years related experience of MDOT or MDOT Local Agency Program inspection utilizing FieldManager/Book. HMA and concrete experience, a thorough understanding of MDOT‑let contract requirements and a valid driver’s license are also required. SESC/Storm Water Operator, Concrete and Density testing certification is preferred. Candidates must be self‑motivated and able to work well with others.

Typical Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections to verify Contract requirements on Construction of Roadways and Bridges
• Lead and manage multiple construction inspectors on one or multiple construction projects
• Prepare and/or review Inspector's Daily Reports in FieldManager/Book and AASHTOWare
• Organize and maintain construction documentation in FieldManager, AASHTOWare, and Bluebeam
• Act as the on‑site liaison with client and community
• Interact and communicate effectively with on‑site construction contractors
• Develop an understanding of plans and specifications
• Assist Project Manager with contract requirements
• Prepare forms and other paperwork in a timely manner
• Attend seminars and/or training courses
