Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey seeks a Principal Architect to lead major transportation architecture programs at the Engineering Department. You will manage multiple projects, supervise architects and designers, and ensure design quality, codes, and life-safety standards across terminal, transit, and public space initiatives.

Strong leadership, senior-level communication, and a track record of delivering complex public infrastructure projects are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
• License to practice Architecture in NY or NJ (or ability to licensure in both within six months).
• 15+ years of transportation planning/architecture experience.
• Experience managing a staff of at least four architects.
• Strong design leadership, problem solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects within an assigned program, ensuring architectural vision and quality of design.
• Assign tasks to designers and project architects and supervise performance.
• Approve proposals, budgets, and schedules and ensure contract drawings are complete and bid-ready.
