Job summary

Optomi, in partnership with a leading telecommunications organization, is seeking a Senior Transport Planning Engineer to drive network expansion, capacity planning, and modernization across core and metro transport networks. The role emphasizes planning, forecasting, and optimization of transport capacity with hands-on knowledge of SONET, Ethernet, and DWDM technologies.

You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in transport network planning or network engineering.
• Hands-on knowledge of SONET, Ethernet, and DWDM technologies.
• Strong background in network capacity planning, forecasting, and analysis.
• Experience with comprehensive, end-to-end network planning.
• Familiarity with data center environments and transport network infrastructure.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and support capacity growth across core and metro transport networks.
• Create detailed engineering plans that are ready for implementation.
• Evaluate network performance and data to identify future capacity requirements.
• Contribute to network upgrades, modernization, and expansion projects.
• Track and manage project funding, budgets, and related financial needs.
• Partner with engineering, operations, and cross-functional teams to execute plans.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
