Senior Transport Network Operations Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with a leading telecommunications organization, is seeking a Senior Transport Network Operations Engineer to support critical transport network operations, service assurance, and reliability initiatives.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced telecom engineer with deep expertise in SONET, DACS, and legacy transport technologies, who can take ownership of complex issues, provide technical leadership, and drive operational excellence across large-scale network environments.

• Extensive experience in telecom transport network operations and engineering.
• Deep expertise in SONET and Digital Access Cross-Connect (DACS) platforms.
• Strong knowledge of transport technologies (T1, T3, DS0 circuits).
• Experience working with Element Management Systems (EMS) and OSS platforms.
• Ability to read and interpret Circuit Layout Records (CLR) and complex schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting experience across hardware, software, and network layers.
• Experience supporting service assurance, provisioning, and network lifecycle management.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and guide technical teams.

Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:

• Provide technical leadership for transport network operations, service assurance, and reliability.
• Analyze and resolve complex, chronic, or large-scale network issues.
• Troubleshoot and support SONET and DACS platforms (e.g., Titan 5500, 532L).
• Interpret and validate circuit designs, schematics, and Circuit Layout Records (CLR).
• Support network provisioning, maintenance, and lifecycle management activities.
• Develop and document technical bulletins, SOPs, and operational procedures.
• Guide and support field operations, installation, and repair teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve network performance and stability.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
• Serve as a subject matter expert across transport technologies and systems.
