Job summary

Trace Systems is seeking a Transport Network Engineer to support a global transport network for the US Special Operations Command and partners, stationed at Pope Army Airfield, Fort Bragg, NC. The role involves designing, implementing, and validating transport solutions across multiple enclaves with potential 24/7 on-call support.

Responsibilities include routing/switching optimization, incident troubleshooting, capacity planning, and documenting engineering artifacts.

Qualifications

Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance.
US Citizenship is required.
Qualification Pathways per DoDM 8140.03 for DCWF 441 (Intermediate).
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Software Engineering.
DoD-approved 8140-aligned certification for DCWF 441 such as: CompTIA Security+ CE, CompTIA CySA+, SSCP, GSEC, CEH.
Willingness to travel worldwide, including remote or austere locations; trips may last up to two months.
Experience troubleshooting complex network issues within routed and switched infrastructures.
Hands-on Cisco networking technologies and enterprise network management tools.
Knowledge of BGP, OSPF, multicast routing, VLANs, VPNs, and network performance monitoring.
Experience with packet analysis, log analysis, fault isolation, and root-cause investigations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Engineer and sustain transport network solutions across enclaves (voice, video, data).
Implement and optimize routing, switching, and transport architectures for resiliency and high uptime.
Troubleshoot incidents; perform root-cause analysis across physical and virtual networks.
Assist with capacity planning, performance monitoring, scalability, and security posture improvements.
Develop diagrams, build guides, and configuration documentation.
Participate in audits; implement mitigations as required.
Support transport-level integration in lab, test, and production environments with hardware builds and device configuration.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate designs and support modernization efforts.
Perform hands-on engineering, configuration development, monitoring, and maintenance.
