Job summary

Rolls-Royce invites qualified engineers to join the Transmissions engineering team in Indianapolis as a Senior Component Design Engineer – Transmissions. You will develop high-performance gas turbine bearings and seals, perform analyses, and support design reviews for engine applications.

You will collaborate with global teams to advance bearing and seal capability, manage supplier interactions, and contribute to manufacturing and service support to ensure on-time fleet performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in mechanical engineering or higher with design experience preferred.
• Advanced degrees (MS, JD/PhD) are considered.
• Experience with rolling element bearings and aerospace sealing systems is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups, including thermal effects, is important.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver new component designs for high-performance gas turbine bearings and seals.
• Lead investigations of in-service or development hardware issues with root-cause analysis.
• Present and defend designs to program leadership and stakeholders.
