Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Transmission Systems Planning Team. The role provides technical leadership in long-range planning, models the bulk power system, and guides infrastructure design including HVDC, battery storage, and IBR.

You will interact with ISO-NE, NPCC, and NEPOOL while directing major studies and testimony. The job can be based in Westwood, MA, Berlin, CT or Hartford, CT, with hybrid schedules and office presence requirements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering or science is required.
• Detailed knowledge of power system modeling and simulations.
• Experience with NERC/NPCC/ISO-NE planning procedures.
• HVDC and inverter-based resource modelling experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission planning studies and long-range planning efforts.
• Prepare documentation, testimony, and regulatory filings.
• Interface with ISO-NE, area transmission owners, and internal departments.
• Develop robust, low-cost solutions for system reliability.
• Present findings to management and committees as needed.
